“SONGS OF SEA LABOR” CONCERT CELEBRATES MARITIME LABOR HISTORY

Noted Connecticut sea chantey singer Rick Spencer will perform a special
Labor Day concert on Monday, September 6, 2010, from 2:00pm to 3:30pm aboard the historic 1890 SF Bay ferryboat Eureka, at Hyde Street Pier, San Francisco. The concert is
presented by San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park. Admission is included in the fee to board the fleet of historic vessels: Adults, $5, ages 15 and under, free. Free with national park passes. Boarding passes may be purchased at Hyde Street Pier fee booth on day of concert.

Rick Spencer has been a respected part of the world of maritime music for
nearly 30 years. He has worked and sung on traditional sailing vessels and is an authority on the usage and presentation of sea chanteys, the work songs of sailors. A musician and songwriter, Rick accompanies himself on banjo, guitar, and concertina.

San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park is located at the west end of Fisherman’s Wharf, in San Francisco. The park includes a magnificent fleet of historic ships, visitor center, Aquatic Park Historic District, and library.
