Passage
The steamer Sonora arrived in port yesterday morning from Panama. She brings 472 passengers, 210 packages mailer matter, and 3,080 packages of freight. Also, 24 sheep.
Memoranda
The P. M. S. S. Sonora, Capt. F. R. Baby, left San Francisco Oct. 1, at 10 A. M.; arrived at Acapulco, Oct. 8 at midnight; received coal and supplies, and sailed for Panama at 3:30 A. M.; arrived at Panama Oct. 14, at 10.30 P. M. Passengers, mails and treasure left Panama for Aspinwall at 6 A. M. on the 15th. Returning, left Panama Oct. 20, at 8:30 P. M., and arrived at Acapulco Oct. 27, at 2 A.M.; discharged sixty-five tons of freight, received coal and supplies, and sailed at 8 A. M. for San Francisco; Oct. 28, at 3.30 P. M., arrived at Manzanillo, and received mail for San Francisco; Oct. 30, forty miles north of St. Lucas, saw a large steamer bound south; Nov. 2d, 7 1/2 P. M., passed a steamer bound down, three hundred miles from San Francisco; have been off the Heads four hours in a thick fog.
INDEPENDENCE OF THE ISTHMUS. The Star publishes a communication in Spanish urging the people of the Isthmus to declare themselves independent of the remainder of New Granada.
CALIFORNIAN KILLED. A passenger who went down on the Uncle Sam, on her last trip, name unknown, was killed in Panama, by falling from the balcony of the United States Hotel. It is supposed that he was temporarily insane at tbe time, in consequence of suffering with a severe fever.
FOREIGN WAR VESSELS. The foreign residents of Panama have addressed highly complimentary letters of thanks to Capt. Porter of the St. Mary's, and Capt. Miller, of the British war-ship Clio, for protecting the town against the insurgents.
