Memoranda

Per S. S. Lewis. Left San Francisco September 15 at 4 p.m.; Sept 25th to 27th, experienced a heavy gale of wind from SE; passed several vessels under close reefed topsails; October 1st off Realejo, signalized English barque Camilla, standing W; arrived at San Juan same night at 12; running time, 16 days 8 hours. In Salinas bay, English ship Cambria, taking in ballast, to sail for Callao in a few days. Oct 11th, 1 p.m., passed Acajutla, saw a brig and topsail schooner at anchor in the harbor. In port, at Acapulco, October 16th, British ship Juan and Alabama, do barque Ocean Queen, do brig Prince, loaded with coals for P.M.S. Co., do barque Emily and brig Gowrie, coals for sale; French ship Heva, to sail on the 17th for San Juan with 16 passengers. Steamer Independence sailed for San Juan October 11th; brig Clarita and Schooner Eola Rosa sailed a few days previous with troops for Mazatlan.
